About counselling

I know from my own experience making the decision to see a counsellor can be daunting!

Providing a non-judgemental, safe and confidential environment I work with you to explore your difficulties and find out what your needs are.

The aim of counselling is to offer you the support and space to feel truly listened to, supported and accepted.  This allows you to discover your own inner strengths and resources, working together we can identify alternative ways of coping and dealing with your problems.  Whatever difficulties you may be facing, counselling can be an effective and long-lasting way of dealing with them.

Counselling isn't always about resolving a problem, it can be simply about helping you to develop as a person and make the most of your abilities, enabling you to take the steps that are right for you to be able to live the life you want to.

As a therapist I work from a person centred therapeutic base, drawing on a range of theories and techniques and applying them to the therapeutic process depending upon your individual needs.  The important thing to remember is counselling is all about you and you set the pace.

Counselling can help if you are experiencing any of the following:

* loss, grief or separation
* feeling lonely, anxious, depressed, sad or worried
* have low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence or feel worthless
* difficulty with relationships: partners, family, friends, colleagues
* feeling that life itself is no longer fulfilling

Please don’t suffer in silence and alone!  Sometimes having someone to talk to is all it needs for you to start to learn how to cope again.
